My Favorite Films of 2007

So tonight is Oscar night.

Haven't seen all the movies nominated for Best Picture (I usually wait until they come out on DVD) and you are probably too young to see most of the nominees. But, what the heck, in the spirit of the evening:

Some films I really enjoyed in 2007 were: American Gangster, The Bourne Ultimatum, Rescue Dawn and Ratatouille. But, my favorite film of 2007 was: Once

Pearl's Phat Burger

This restaurant sells the best bugers in town. It is down town near the church. The have hambugers and hot dogs and all those other things that you would axpect at a buger joint. I go here all the time because it is right across the street from Stefano's. My brother and sister love put I pizza but I don't. I would give this place 2 thumbs up.

Just like heaven.

First of all this movie is really good, but no one I know has seen it besides Brett. (but that's because we saw it together) You might think that makes it a bad movie but not at all! I just don't think they advertised it enough. One of the reasons I liked it is because Reese Witherspoon is in it and she is my favorite actress. It is about a woman who works in a hospital and still doesn't have a boyfriend, so her sister Abby sets her up on a blind date. On the way to Abby's house she get's in a car crash and goes into a coma. Then the man who rents her apartment starts seeing her because she turns into a ghost. There is also a song called Just like heaven and they play it in the movie, the song is also really beautiful! I really think you should see it. I give it a 2 thumbs up.

Riding Giants

This is a great documentary that is all about surfing! It shows great surfers surfing some legendary moments. Its so cool! It has very sad moments, very funny moments, and just plain cool moments. It is totally 2 thumbs up! Its pg-13 but that shouldn't stop you from watching it.

Hairspray

Hairspray is my favorite musical. It is really good film because it has a meaning to the plot and some really fun songs.

Hairspray is about a girl who is named Tracy Turnblad. She is over weight but that doesn't stop her from working her way to fame on the Corny Collin's show in Baltimore.

This was in the 60's, when segragation was still around so that makes it even harder for Tracy's best friend Penny to stay in touch with Seaweed. An African American who was segragated in the negro Corny Collin's show.

Velma the woman in charge of the show doesn't want Tracy to win the teenage Hairspray pagent; she want's her daughter, Amber to. Amber is a hot head and her mom is a control freak.

Will Amber win the Hairspray pagent? Will Tracy? Or will it be someone totally different? This is an amazing work of art that will keep you on your feet.

I'd give this movie 2 thumbs up because of it's flashy colors and of a hiden love story.

National Treasure

Over break me and Maddy went to go see National Treasure. I really liked the movie because it had a lot of adventure and a lot of people explored for the Treasure. I would give this movie a 9 1/2 because the movie is a great movie but not one of my favorite. I also like this movie because it is informational. If you like adventure then you should go see it.

Juno

This movie is very funny, it is so funny that some of the people in the audience were laughing out loud. This movie is manly about a girl named Juno, she then gets pregnant after doing "BLAH". Juno is really funny and the girl Juno is really funny she sometimes swears in the movie but it is very good. This movie is good for young adults and adults but if you are my age than it will make sence but not a hole lot of it will not make sence but like i have said a million times it is SO FUNNY!
I would give this movie a 2 thumbs up! This movie is PG 13.

Indian Brasserie Limited

For Matias, and all of the rest of you who love Indian food, I found the best on the planet at the Indian Brasserie, Limited in London.  This is where my family and I had Christmas dinner, just a short walk from our hotel on Trafalgar Square.

Our meal began with golden meat and vegetable samosas followed by crisp onion bhaji served with some kind of coconut sauce.  Mmmm.  I have to tell you that the English have a way with meat pies and this, combined with fragrant Indian spices, was heaven.   Dinner was Tandoori chicken tikka masala, cooked in exotic spices and fresh cream, very spicy chicken vindaloo, and alu gobi (aka cauliflower and potatoes in a smooth, coconut-curry sauce).  And the nan!  It was soft and hot off the tandoori: simply to die for.

The Indian Brasserie Limited is located in at 18A Rupert Street, Piccadilly Circus, London, right in the heart of the theater district.  Mama Mia was showing at one end of the block, and Cabaret was showing at the other.

9-5

9-5 seems like a weird name but it's SO funny. There ARE some inappropriate scenes. It talks about drugs but most of it is great. I'd rate this a two thumbs up.

9-5 is about 3 girls who have a really mean boss and they even joke around about how they should get rid of him. Things really go wrong when one of them accidentally put rat poisoning in his coffee and they freak when they see him passed out on the ground of his office.

Watch this movie to laugh your socks off!

Once

Once is a movie about a street performer that plays music on the guitar. Then he meets a sweatish girl while playing a song. They become great friends and start playing together. They were both married but their husband and wife both moved away. This movie is to good to give away so I wont say any more.

I love this movie so much because it is sad, funny and suprising. This movie is 2 thumbs up all the way. I think it was part of the film festival but im not sure. See this movie if you'd like to go to heaven.

Town Hall

I love this resterant. It has the best food. My favorite thing is the biscuts. All the food is good no matter what your ordering. It is an adult resturant,but I went with my whole family. The desserts are good too. There usally is a lot of people there because it is such a good place. I would give it 3 forks.

The Pursuit of Happyness

This is a movie about a poor family that is living a terrible life. They can barely afford rent, they can't sell the bone density scanners that they invested in and they can't afford food. The man has a young 5-6 year old son and his wife moved away. The movie is very sad and I definitely don't recommend it for people who don't like sad movies. I wont give away the rest, so I wont tell you any more. I would give away the rest, but I'd say this move is one thumbs down. ( I spelled the title the way they did in the movie.)

Picco Pizzaria and Whine Shop

This isn't only a whine shop but it's the best pizza place in the world! It has Italian style pizza and is made in those old fashion fire ovens. They also have really good orngata, an Italian soda that's like orngina. Picco, a nick name, makes homemade soft served ice-cream that is GREAT.

The location of Picco is in Larkspur on Magnolia street. There are two Piccos, the one with valet parking and a big sign saying PICCO is on the left, don't go there it's bad. Look for the one on the right that looks smaller and more run down. That one says Picco Pizzaria and whine shop. Go there.


Picco is kind of expansive but it's worth it! It's so good that I could only find two places in Italy better then Pico Pizzaria and whine shop! I'd defiantly give this a two thumbs up!

Joes Taco Lounge

I love this resterant. One time I was there with my friends Ellie and Andrew Zimmer. While we were waiting for our food we went outside to play. All of us started trying to climb up a big tree. Then Ellie and Andrew put each others shoes on. They both made it up the tree. I like Joes Taco Lounge because everthing is good,whether your ordering tacos or hambugers. I would give it 3 forks.

Enchanted

About 3 week's ago I saw the movie Entchanted. This movie is kind of confusing if people talk to you about it you whould have to see it. I think a lot of the class has seen it. This mit be scare for a littel kid but it will not seem scare to you. The movie is really funny. I like the movie so much that I wan't to see it again. I know I am going to get it when it comes out on D.V.D.

I think you should go see it.

Indian Palace

Indian Palace is a great place to eat it is an indian restaurant. I have been to a indian resturants in the city and they are not better than this resturant. It's addres is 707 redwood highway and if you need to take take out the phone number is (415)388-3350. My teacher thinks that Bombay Garden is the best indian restraunt but i think that there is Indian Palace. I think that this resturant is 3 forks because it is very good if you like spicey food.

Transformers

This movie was so great! I loved the effects. I think that they are going to make another transformers movie because this one got such positive feed back. Also, yoou can tell by the ending. transformers is rated PG 13. My favorite charector is Bumble Bee. It was really creative how he talks, Bumble Bee uses words from the radio, so his voice is a mixture of different voices. It sounds really cool! This was such a great idea for a movie. It was a mixture of fantasy, scare, and realitic fiction. I would give this movie two thumbs up!

Californa Pizza Kitchen

Californa Pizza Kitchen is one of my favorite restrontes. I don't go there all the time but sometimes. I really like there pizza and pasta. My mom thinks it not that healthy but it is still good.

About 2 year's ago me and my mom where there and we really had to hery up we where going to a lecher near there. But it was very crawded it talk there water's about 2 hours to bring us our food. So we just left when we got there, there was a desaster the lectcher was canseled. So we just order food to go.

It is in Cortamadara in the front bey the Bay Club.

You should go there!

Fred Clause

This movie is really funny and anyone who likes funny movies are set to go in this movie. this movie I think is PG or it is PG 13. Someone would like this movie if they like sort of sad but the sad parts are rarley in the movie and there are also really funny parts where you might laugh out loud. Just in case you might think it is a little kid movie, it is not but you might think that it is so you might want to get it on video so just in case you do not like it. I would rate this movie with a 2 thumbs because it is so funny but it can be sad at parts.

The Golden Compass The Movie

I've haven't seen it yet of coures because it's not out yet. I hope they don't mess up the story. I can't wait to see it. I'm going to see it Monday after school because my weekend is really busy, so I can't see it. If anyone wants to see it with me please tell me a head of time.

Robata Grill and Sushi 591 Redwood Hwy, Mill Valley, CA

This is my all-time favorite sushi restaurant. It has great dinner and dessert. One of the things I like about it is that it has all different things but they all are really good. One time, my dad accidentally ordered something wrong but he tasted it and it was great! Something cool is that my dad lived in Japan for a year in college so he speaks some Japanese. They have a special menu that's written in Japanese and whenever we go I practice with it. I give it 3 forks.

The Poler Express

I love the poaler express,because it is a movie about family and magic. It tells of a boy and his family on chirstmas. He and his sister love christmas. When the all go to sleep the boy wakes up to the sound of screeching wheels. He creeps outside and sees an old rusty train. He gets on and travels a long jorney to the north pole. This is a great family and holiday movie. you can get it on dvd. i would rate this 2 big thumbs up.
